Breaking news has brought devastating sorrow to Parsons, Tennessee, as a tragic house fire claimed the life of a three-year-old boy today in nearby Rickman. Fire crews from the Rickman Volunteer Fire Department, supported by Livingston Fire as backup, arrived at a raging two-story brick home only to find intense flames. According to Chief Spencer Curd, a terrified mother and her infant managed to escape to the roof, suffering burns, but the young boy remained trapped inside as the fire roared.

Firefighters risked their lives and entered the burning building to rescue him. They pulled the child out, but despite their heroic efforts, the three-year-old did not survive. The mother and infant have been transported to a local hospital for treatment, but thankfully, no one else was injured.

What makes this tragedy all the more heartbreaking is that it comes only two days after another fatal house fire nearby, in Livingston, just a few miles away. Two young children lost their lives in that incident, striking terror and grief deep into this tight-knit community in Overton County. Livingston Fire Chief Rocky Dial, with over thirty years of service, says he has never seen three children die in house fires within a week in his county.

While authorities say there is no evidence the two fires are related, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is actively probing both incidents. Neighbors are shaken, heartbroken, and searching for comfort as firefighters extinguished the flames and saved much of the brick home. Please join a prayer vigil tonight in Livingston’s town square, or send prayers, support, and love from wherever you are. Let us unite in hope and compassion.
